HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY

[MG]², Inc. originated in April 1986 as a power and lighting equipment sales agency.  [MG]² began representing just three companies within Alabama: Hubbell Lighting, EPE Technologies, Inc., and Dynaray/Electro PowerPacs.  The quick success at [MG]² allowed it to expand its offering to include full line lighting, poles, street light foundations, underground utility products, and CCTV systems for security surveillance and intelligent transportation markets.

In 1992, after becoming aware of electrical hazards created in the aftermath of a breakaway light pole knockdown, [MG]² became responsible for the development and eventual nationwide specification of the AASHTO compliant breakaway cable system for light poles called DOT · PLUG.  The DOT · PLUG product has virtually eliminated the fire and electrical hazards associated with light pole knock-downs while at the same time effectively reduced maintenance time and costs.   About this same time, [MG]² introduced the individual fixture lowering device to the U.S. Department of Transportation market and rapidly improved upon existing lowering concepts by offering the only 600 volt rated contact connector in the industry. To date, the number of fixture lowering systems sold nationwide has exceeded 2000.

In 1994, [MG]² once again had a vision of increasing safety and maintainability in the recently born Intelligent Transportation System marketplace.  [MG]² anticipated the deployment of CCTV cameras on the highways of the world, and thus, developed the first lowering system specifically designed to raise and lower multi-function surveillance cameras and other ITS related devices.  [MG]² was responsible for the first installation of a camera lowering device and has since become the recognized leader in camera lowering technology.  With installations nationwide as well as abroad in Australia and South Korea, and interest around the globe, it has become apparent that the [MG]² concept of lowering cameras has become an integral part of every ITS design.

[MG]² continues to act as an agency although it primary function is that of an Original Equipment Manufacturer and distributor.   Some of [MG]² more notable customers include, but are not limited to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Mercedes-Benz, U.S. Customs Service, NASA, Department of the Navy, Walt Disney, Garkane Energy and the Southern Companies.

[MG]² is headquartered in a new 7,000 sq/ft. facility in Birmingham, Alabama.  [MG]² has set up its own network of the finest rep agencies and local distributors in the business who market and sell our innovative products throughout North America, Australia and South Korea.  The success we have achieved has been due to our highly motivated and professionally competent technical sales force. The [MG]² sales force has over 100 combined years of experience in the lighting, power, connector, and lowering device fields.   Coupled with our strong relationships with Lighting Designers, ITS Engineers, Specifiers, Contractors, and Owner/Developers across the country, [MG]² commands more than 90% of the marketplace in the innovative system offering.   We take pride in our efforts and have worked very hard to develop and maintain the credibility and reputation of our company with all of our customers. At [MG]², customer satisfaction is the key to every project.  We are known for exhausting all efforts to assure the customer receives the most economical, effective and safe product according to their specific needs.  [MG]², Inc. strives to maintain excellent customer service relations with each individual and organization with which we deal.  We look forward to working with you on your next project.
